Robert Boucher

Robert holds a Bachelors degree from Carleton University with a double major in psychology and sociology.

For twenty-six years Robert worked as a manager with the Correctional Service of Canada. In this time he worked as a Parole Office and a Parole Superintendent. For a time he worked as a Correctional Investigator in the Correctional Investigators Office (Ombudsman service) where he mediated disputes between inmates, staff and unions. He also had significant assignments at National Headquarters where he worked in Human Resources in recruitments, senior executive training and staff development.

As his tenure with the CSC was unfolding Robert also pursued a vigorous career as a community volunteer. he working in leadership roles with the United Way from Local to National and International levels culminating with nine years as a Canadian Representative to the International Board of Directors for the United Way. In the Kingston areas he is a Past President of the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, The Rotary Club of Kingston and the Kingston Choral Society. he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hotel Dieu Hospital. Each of these experiences had contributed to a thorough understanding of the roles of boards, how healthy organizations function, how to build teams and set goals and how to expand the capacity of groups to achieve.

in 2009 Robert published his first book entitles, Compass Rose: Finding Direction. The book is a thoughtful and emotionally honest inquiry into the processes that individuals need to effectively examine and manage their personal and professional lives and to be more present as they set and achieve their goals. His second book entitled, Navigating Life is awaiting publications; it is more focused in the challenges of finding meaning, purpose and balance in our personal relationships. Intended as a companion to Compass Rose it seeks to engage the reader in a dialogue on the things that challenge our capacity to be successful. The final book in the trilogy is entitled, Lighter Parts of Life, it is a memoir of sorts recounting inspiring moments and people who Robert has encountered in a life that has taken him around the world. Currently it is safely housed on the hard drive of Robert's computer... it will see the light od day in the very near future...
